Change on Main, 1830 Main St., Northampton, has a history of assisting the community. It continued the community-spirited activities Nov. 18 when a team labored as volunteers to help clean the borough’s Canal Street Park.
The principle endeavors of Change on Main is to actively help those with addiction challenges grow in their recovery from addiction and help those in acute crisis find quick placement into an inpatient addiction treatment facility.
The dedicated staff and participants embrace assisting not only individuals and their families, but also the Northampton community.
The Change on Main team organized another Canal Street Park cleanup, and they were joined by former Mrs. Pennsylvania Rebecca West.
The team, armed with garbage bags and gloves, walked through the park picking up debris, paper and other discarded items.
The team, led by program director Brian Sabo, spent a couple hours on their pickup detail.
“This is a great community effort,” Sabo said.
The team included Sabo, Rachel Jones, Eli Heckman, Ib Larsen, Gary Birks and Beth and Brett Shutter.
“This is positive people affecting positive change,” Sabo reported.
The group plans to assist with the upcoming work by the borough to develop flower gardens at Canal Street Park.
