Donald James Wendling

Donald James Wendling, 89, of Macungie, died Dec. 10, 2021, in his residence. He was the husband of the late Audrey Joan (DeWalt) Wendling. Born in Seisholtzville, he was the son of the late Robert and Mary (Acker) Wendling.

He served in the Army reserves.

He was the co-owner of Wendling Restorations, specializing in the restoration of antique and classic cars for 55 years. He was an artist, focusing on landscape painting and was a craftsman, building and restoring furniture.

He was a member of Salem Bible Church.

He is survived by sons, Darryl J. and his wife, Ann, of Macungie, Duane D. and his wife, Lyn, of Kutztown, Douglas E. and his wife, Kristen, of Walnutport, Darrin A. and his wife, Marla, of Walnutport; daughters, Ardyth A. and her husband, Rev. Kent Yorgey, of Macungie, Angela E. and her husband, Robert Piacine, of Sellersville; a brother, Dalton G., of Macungie; a sister, Sandy Decker, of Leesburg, Fla.; grandchildren, Travis Yorgey and his wife, Sarah, Nicole and her husband, Gaston DeBello, Joseph and Aubrey Piacine, Aurey and her husband, Nate Amato, Alex and his wife, Jen, Alicia, Austin, Ethan, Caleb, Seth, Josiah and his wife, Dana, Zachary and Eliza; 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Schmehl and grandson, Benjamin Yorgey.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Jan. 15, 2022, in Salem Bible Church, 8031 Salem Bible Church Road, Macungie. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Arrangements were made by the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
