There is a sign-up meeting planned 7 p.m. Dec. 21 in the Whitehall High School auditorium for high school students interested in joining either the percussion ensemble or winter color guard. No prior experience is necessary.

This is a great way to try something new! If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to play the drums or mallet keyboards, percussion ensemble may be for you. If you like to dance and would like to learn to spin and toss a flag, check out the winter color guard.

For winter break, Whitehall-Coplay School District students will have an early dismissal Dec. 23.

Schools will be closed Dec. 24-Jan. 2, 2022. Classes are set to resume Jan. 3, 2022.

Students in grades 9-12 can apply for a No Sweat scholarship worth $2,500. This scholarship is very easy to apply for - hence, the “no sweat” title. There are no grade-point average requirements, no minimum income requirements and no essays.

See the counseling website under Scholarships on the WCSD website, whitehallcoplay.org, for the link to apply. The deadline is Dec. 31.

In addition, there are other scholarships available for seniors. These scholarships also have deadlines, so be sure to take the time today to view the criteria and apply to the ones that interest you.
