District attorney announces arrest in homicide in Fountain Hill

Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin and Fountain Hill Police Chief Edward Bachert announced an arrest in a homicide in a media release dated Dec. 10.

Jarrett Hunter Hein, 23, of Fountain Hill, is charged with alleged criminal homicide, a felony of the first degree.

Hein is held in Lehigh County Jail with no bail.

The incident is detailed as follows:

At approximately 7:03 p.m. Dec. 9, Fountain Hill police were called to the 1400 block of Broadway for a 911 call concerning a shooting with a person injured.

Travorious Gudger, 20, of Apalachicola, Fla., was found in the rear parking lot area near Broadway of the Wawa convenience store, 1429 Broadway, Fountain Hill.

Gudger, who was shot several times, died at the scene, according to authorities.

His death was ruled a homicide by the Lehigh County Coroner’s office.

Investigators found an unloaded .357 magnum revolver near Gudger’s body.

Hein was nearby with a 9mm Sig Sauer semi-automatic handgun with seven live rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber.

The gun and magazine were on the ground.

According to authorities, Hein and Gudger had arranged to meet through an online site where Hein was selling the .357 handgun. Gudger responded to Hein and said he was interested in buying the gun.

The men corresponded for more than a week before deciding to meet in the Wawa parking lot Dec. 9.

Gudger said he wanted to examine the handgun, according to the media release.

Hein arrived in the area first and Gudger approached Hein’s car, according to authorities. Hein showed the handgun to Gudger, who ran away with the weapon.

Hein allegedly pulled the Sig Sauer from a holster on his waist. He told police he fired multiple gunshots at Gudger as he ran and then called 911 to report the shooting.

The Lehigh County Homicide Task Force and First Assistant District Attorney Steven M. Luksa also are among investigating agencies.
