Lights in the Parkway marks 25th anniversary

The City of Allentown is extending the season to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Lights in the Parkway.

Lights in the Parkway is one of the most traditional holiday displays in the Lehigh Valley and is emphasized as a traveling destination all across the country, having entertained visitors from all 50 states.

Enjoy the radiant view from the comfort and safety of your vehicle with your family nightly through Dec. 31. Lights in the Parkway is closed Christmas Day.

Travel for more than a mile in one of Allentown’s most beautiful parks, Lehigh Parkway, which is turned into a winter wonderland.

More than 360 displays, 41 new features, and over 100 glistening wrapped trees, make-up the largest show in event history.

Visitors will experience tunnels and favorite holiday scenes.

Patrons can enjoy free interactive giveaways, while supplies last, from presenting home for the holidays sponsor, Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital and the city.

Proceeds from the program have annually benefited an average seven to 10 local nonprofit organizations.

Lights in the Parkway is presented by the City of Allentown in partnership with presenting home for the holidays sponsors, Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital and WFMZ; along with Tinsel, Star, Mistletoe, Jingle Bell and Snowflake level sponsors, which include Lehigh Valley Live, 100.7 WLEV, Cat Country 96, and 99.9 The HAWK, iHeart Media, RCN, Latina Radio, Allentown Federal Credit Union, BSI Corporate Benefits, Run Lehigh Valley, City Center, Waste Management, La Mega, Alvin H. There is no additional cost to visit on Santa search nights.

Online processing fees will apply, schedule is subject to change.

No cash or credit sales will be accepted on site.

The City of Allentown’s Parks Department is the creative and visual talent behind Lights in the Parkway.

Allentown’s Parks Department staff has provided the lighting expertise needed to produce just the right illumination, shadow, and silhouetting effects for this imaginative wonderland.

Lights in the Parkway continues to show commitment to use energy-efficient LED lights in all new displays and to convert more existing displays each year to LED bulbs.

LED lights use 85 percent less energy than traditional bulbs and last about four times longer.
