Allentown Central Catholic Vikette Soccer team captures its first state championship
In an exciting game at the Hershey Park Stadium Nov. 19, the Allentown Central Catholic High School girls soccer team captured its first state title in the program’s history.
Using skill, teamwork and faith the Vikettes defeated Avonworth 2-1 in the final seconds of an unbelievable game. Congratulations on the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association 2A Girls Soccer Championship. This marks the third state title for ACCHS this year.
Congratulations to senior, Julia Roth, Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association, All-State and Coach Robert Spatzer, 2A All-State Coach of the Year.

Congratulations to EPC Football All Stars. Defensive lineman Lavon Johnson took Defensive MVP honors in the South. The senior had eight sacks and 35 TFLs entering the PIAA tournament. Our Viking football team competed in the first round of the 4A state championship against Jersey Shore at J. Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown Nov. 19. The Vikings fell to Jersey Shore with a score of 20-7. Congratulations to our Vikings, District XI Champs.
On Thanksgiving Day, Vikette choir members performed with the youth choir in Philadelphia. Members included Natalie Woytek, Lauren Weaver, Olivia Riedy, Jackie McDonald and Hailey Horn.
ACCHS student Natalie Woytek successfully auditioned to the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 10 Chorus. She placed fifth in her section and will travel to Berks Catholic High School in February 2022 to sing with 176 other singers from the Berks, Lehigh, Carbon, Monroe, Northampton, Pike and Schuylkill counties. Great job, Natalie.
Students recently participated in our Kairos XVII retreat. Kairos from the Greek word meaning “God’s time,” is a four day retreat for seniors focused on students’ relationships with self, others and God. The retreat is led by campus ministers, faculty and selected senior leaders. The retreat includes small group discussions, prayer and various other friendship and bonding activities.
