Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 604 Fourth St., Catasauqua, had a special surprise for Thanksgiving week - a pancake breakfast Nov. 20 and wings and chili Nov. 24.
Fred Knauss was busy cooking batch after batch of hot wings for before the community bonfire Nov. 24.
Dorothy and Joe Vassa came for the pancake breakfast and later the wings. It was the first time the Vassas came to the church, and they were impressed. The couple are regulars at the American Legion breakfasts and are active with the Catasauqua seniors group.
Conversation during the meals centered around the Nov. 25 Turkey Day game pitting Catasauqua High School Rough Riders against Northampton Area High School Konkrete Kids.
