Robert A. Nagle
Robert A. Nagle (Bob), 99, of Allentown, died Nov. 29, 2021, in the inpatient hospice unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He and his wife Elizabeth (Bette) (McNamara) celebrated 75 years of marriage Oct. 12. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Harold and Carrie (Ebert) Nagle.
He graduated from Allentown High School in 1941.
He was drafted into the Army and served in the Signal Corp in Europe for three years during World War II. Upon his active duty discharge, he joined the Army Reserves and was called back to active duty in 1950 to serve stateside for two years during the Korean War.
He worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance for 29 years, retiring in 1977. He then worked eight years in sales for Hobart.
He was a member of American Legion, Henry Peter Post #576 and a former president of the Alton Park Lions Club. He was a mason for 53 years, serving two terms as Worshipful Master of Barger Lodge #333 F&M, now Greenleaf Lodge #561. During his first term all four sons became Masons at the same time. He was a member of Scotttish Rite Valley of Allentown Lehigh Consistory for 43 years.
He was a member of Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, Allentown.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing pinochle and most of all supporting the lives of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife; a sister, Verna Smith; sons, Barry and his wife, Carol, Brian and his wife, Jean, Glenn and his wife, Margaret, Robert W. and his wife, Christine; grandchildren: Stacey, Brent, Shannon, Melissa, Kyle, Sean, Stephen, Christopher, Matthew, Jessica and Chloe; great-grandchildren: Landon, Elayna, Lyla, Avaline, Dean, Brynn, Emily, Lily, Kennedy, Amelia, Emily, Connor, Collin, NovaLee. He was predeceased by brothers, Winfred and Nevin; a sister, Jean Stauffer (Roland).
Memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
A viewing will be held 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 17th & Hamilton streets, Allentown, followed by a Masonic funeral service. Masks must be worn, regardless of vaccine status.
