Ruth L. Coval, 92, died Nov. 22, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Born on March 6, 1929, in Palmerton, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Schenkenberger and Daisy (Barber) Schenkenberger.

The loving wife of the late Daniel Coval, they were married 61 years before his death in 2018.

A 1946 Parkland High School graduate and a 1950 Kutztown University graduate, she taught in the Parkland School District.

Later in life, she earned a Master’s degree from Kutztown University.

She then was a reading specialist with the Whitehall School District.

Active in Girl Scouts, she was a troop leader in Neffs for many years and later a consultant.

She was an active member of St. John’s Church, Northampton.

A loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, she found pleasure in nature and all the beautiful things she had to offer.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her survivors include sons Daniel and partner, Dot, of Collegeville; and Mark and wife, Monique, of Philadelphia; and grandchildren Kristen, Katelyn and Jacqueline.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her stepmother Elda Schenkenberger; brother Glen; and sister Blanche.
