NFF-Lehigh Valley Chapter Players of the Week
Each week the National Football Foundation – Lehigh Valley Chapter, selected a high school football player of the week from its 33 local high schools. The players are listed below:
Week 1 – Marcus Williams, a running back from Easton, rushed 6 times for 175 yards and 6 touchdowns. The Rovers won 76-6 over Pocono Mountain East.
Week 2 – Quinn Wentling, a quarterback from Whitehall, was 10 for 12 passing, 172 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 70 yards on 12 carries and scored 2 touchdowns. The team beat Bethlehem Catholic 49-14.
Week 3 – Nolan Lobb, a wide receiver from Nazareth, had 13 receptions for 268 yards and 3 touchdowns. Nolan also returned an interception 39 yards for TD. His team lost to Parkland 43-40.
Week 4 – Kael Godshalk, a running back from Bangor, rushed for 101 yards on 13 carries. He also had 1 reception for 31 yards and scored 4 touchdowns. His team beat Southern Lehigh 35-7.
Week 5 – Deante Crawford, a running back from Freedom, rushed for 201 yards on 47 carries and had 4 touchdowns. His team beat Nazareth 38-21. Also, Collin Quintano, a quarterback from Notre Dame High School, passed for 501 yards on 30-41 attempts and had 6 touchdowns. This broke the NDHS school record for passing yards and tied the school record for passing touchdowns. His team beat Jim Thorpe 49-21.
Week 6 – Robert Papaleo, a quarterback from Pleasant Valley, rushed for 188 yards on 26 carries and scored 2 touchdowns. He also was 4-7 passing for 103 yards and 2 touchdowns. On defense he had 2 solo tackles and 5 assists. His team beat rival Pocono Mountain East 42-8.
Week 7 – Matt Machalik, a sophomore quarterback from Palmerton rushed 15 times for 84 yards and scored 4 touchdowns. He was 5 for 7 passing for 80 yards and a touchdown and converted a 2-point conversion twice in the game. He also returned an interception for 100 yards and had 5 tackles. He accounted for 34 points in the game. His team beat Pine Grove 51-7.
Week 8 – Justin Holmes, a quarterback from Northwestern, carried the ball 28 times for 162 yards, and scored 2 touchdowns. He was also 5 for 10 passing for 71 yards. He had a strip sack on 4th down with 4 minutes to play in order to preserve a win over Pottsville 22-14.
Week 9 – Cayden Stem, a quarterback from Wilson, completed 15 of 22 passes for 242 yards and 4 touchdown passes. He now has 60 touchdown passes for his career. Cayden also made 10 tackles from his outside linebacker defensive position. His team beat Blue Mountain 41-12.
Week 10 – Jovan Rodriguez, a quarterback from Louis E. Dieruff, rushed for 3 touchdowns and passed for 3 touchdowns. He was named Offensive MVP for the third time in the Allen vs. Dieruff football game. Dieruff won 49-12.
