Tyler Miller and Joe Vassa, of M2 Woodworking LLC, 860 Fifth St., Whitehall, said they were up until almost midnight Nov. 12 building a 4-foot-by-2-foot elaborate footer for the upcoming new sign at the Public Library of Catasauqua, Third and Bridge streets.
A footer is an important part of foundation construction. The purpose of a footer is to support the foundation and prevent settling.
The library received a grant from the Harry C. Trexler Trust to begin the work on the sign.
Miller said the next step is to dig a trench and pour concrete. M2 Woodworking planned to excavate the trench Nov. 13 and install the footer.
The footer will then be in place to receive the new sign, according to Miller. The sign, when it arrives, will be bolted to the footer device.
Miller said the digital sign is expected to arrive in January or February of 2022.
