Emmaus celebrates Old Fashioned Christmas Dec. 4

Emmaus hosts its annual Old Fashioned Christmas Dec. 4 on the Triangle and various venues throughout the borough. The Triangle event features live reindeer; kids’ activities 4-7 p.m.; a Cheers Drinking Trail noon to 5 p.m.; visits with Olaf, Anna and Elsa; hayrides; musical performances; a mistletoe kissing booth and photos with Santa. The tree lighting will be 6 p.m.

The library is hosting Christmas crafting all day Dec. 4 for children and families to decorate their home and the Christmas tree on the Triangle. Create one item to keep and another to hang on the borough tree. For information, visit the Emmaus Public Library or call 610-965-9284.
The Friends of the 1803 House invite you to their Old Fashioned Christmas at the historical house, 55 S. Keystone Ave., 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 4. Visitors will experience a fire in the open hearth and view an apple cobbler baking. Walk through a house decorated with a Christmas tree adorned with Colonial decorations, window sills decorated by members of the Emmaus Garden Club and Douglas fir-decorated-holiday wreaths throughout. The wreaths are for sale to visitors to take home to decorate. There will be ornament crafting for the children, a “Very Merrie Wine Pull,” (donate to the 1803 House and take home a bottle of wine) and other holiday items for sale. The Knauss Homestead Society will host an open house for Old Fashioned Christmas 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Knauss Homestead, 152 E. Main St. (Go to the rear or the Cintas parking lot and the house and barn will be visible). The house, where one of Emmaus’ Founding Fathers lived, will be decorated in the 1777-period. The members will be serving Moravian sugar cakes with hot chocolate. Children will be able to make a Christmas tree ornament to be placed on the children’s tree on the Emmaus Triangle Park that afternoon. For information, visit www.knausshomestead.org or Facebook.
The Shelter House, 601 S. Fourth St., will be open noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 4 during Emmaus’ Old Fashioned Christmas celebration. The children are invited to make decorations for the children’s tree on the Triangle. The members will be serving warm cider and home baked cookies. Please wear masks if you haven’t received immunization protection.
The Emmaus Historical Society’s Museum, 218 Main St., Emmaus, is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Stop by for a visit and learn more about the history of this community and see some of their beautiful, vintage Christmas decorations. Member meetings and programs are still on hold until further notice.
The Quarantettes Plus One will offer a seasonal concert once again noon Dec. 5 on the porch of the Emmaus Historical Society museum. Come enjoy a little music while taking a stroll in downtown Emmaus.
The society has scheduled the first three bus trips for 2022. Join the fun March 15 for “Sherlock Returns” and May 24 for “I Left My Dignity in My Other Purse,” both at Hunterdon Hills Playhouse and Aug. 16 for “David” at Sight & Sound Theater. The society’s fundraising committee is accepting donations for next year’s community yard sale. Call to schedule a time to drop off items. Sorry, but clothing or upholstered furniture are not accepted.
The society’s museum committee appreciates all donations of memorabilia that came from, was used or enjoyed by, those in Emaus/Emmaus. The society is interested in vintage items, especially holiday decorations. Also, they are currently looking for copies of the Emmaus High School newspapers from the 1970s to present. There are plenty of holiday gift ideas at the sale. Items available will include recent fiction and non-fiction books, holiday cookbooks and craft books, puzzles, music CDs and movie DVDS. Also, Dan Schantz Monthly Madness cards. Refreshments will be available. Purchases are by cash or check only. Masks are required. The library is closed during this event.
Emmaus Public Library, will be offering last minute gift wrapping 6:30 p.m. Dec. 20. Bring a handful of small to medium gifts to be wrapped and they will supply the paper, bows and tape. Drop in, for all ages. Adult supervision is required.
