Allen R. Schaffer, 65, of Allen Township, died Nov. 5, 2021, at his residence after a battle with cancer. He was the husband of Arlene (Ajello) Schaffer.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of Gladys F. (Sterner) of Allen Township and the late Raymond C. Schaffer.

He was a 1974 graduate of Northampton High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Moravian College.

He was in the U.S. Marine Corps for several years.

He was a counselor for 20 years at Carbon-Monroe-Pike Drug & Alcohol Commission until he retired in 2019.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Diane J. and her husband Dennis Schmoyer of Macungie; two stepsons, Jeffrey Ajello of Annville and Jonathan Ajello of Forest Hills, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Jeannine Ajello of Silver Springs, Md.; a nephew, Ryan MacKewen; and a niece, Tracy MacKewen.

Services will be private.
