UPPER MACUNGIE: Fogelsville churches having joint Thanksgiving Eve service

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1028 Church St., is partnering with St. John’s UCC, 1027 Church St., both in Fogelsville, for a joint Thanksgiving Eve service 7:30 p.m. Nov. 24 at St. John’s UCC.

All are welcome to attend.

They will also be having their Christmas tree lighting 6 p.m. Nov. 28 at Fogelsville Community Park, Church Street.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1027 Church St., Fogelsville, will be hosting Interrupted Silence, a vocal ensemble, part of the music ministry at Union UCC in Neffs for a holiday concert.

The vocal ensemble along with the Elysium String Quartet will present Handel’s Messiah at 3 p.m. Nov. 21 at St. John’s UCC.

Join them for the Christmas portion and one of the most famous choral pieces, the Hallelujah Chorus.

Committed to supporting the arts in the Lehigh Valley, each Interrupted Silence concert contracts professional artists in the Lehigh Valley regional area.

Masks are required for all audience members.

Ziegels Union Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, will have its Thanksgiving Eve worship service 7 p.m. on Nov. 24.

There will be a Snowflake Fest to kick off Christmas 10 a.m.-noon Nov. 26.

Join them for a candy cane hunt, games and snowflake crafts.

The Fellowship Committee will again have its Christmas cookie collection for shut-ins and other members of the church.

Cookies may be dropped off 10 a.m. at the church during the Snowflake Fest.

Boxes will be put together during Snowflake Fest and available for delivery Nov. 28.

Volunteers are needed to help deliver the cookies.

Upper Macungie Township is partnering with The Nanny Loft LLC., to offer a Safe Sitter one-day “Essential” course 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Nov. 29 in the municipal building, 8330 Schantz Road, Breinigsville.

This course is designed to prepare students in grades six to eight, and nine to 12 to be safe home alone or babysitting.

The per student fee includes a 60-minute introduction to CPR along with the safety, childcare, first aid and rescue and life and business skills.

Students will receive a cinch bag with manual, flashlight, Band-Aid kit, emergency notepad, snacks and water.

Students need to provide their own lunch.
