Library hosting Thanksgiving Food Festival with Chef Rob

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, is hosting Chef Rob for his Thanksgiving Food Festival 3 p.m. Nov. 20 on Facebook.
Festival recipes will include pear with mixed greens, dried cherries, and candied walnuts, turkey corn chowder, and pumpkin snickerdoodles.
Patrons are encouraged to cook along with Chef Rob.
To receive a copy of Chef Rob’s recipes participants must register to attend his program.

Kids in grades five through 12 are invited to join library staff at their “Adult 101 Series: How to Food Prep” from noon-2 p.m. Nov. 27 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel meeting room.
Learn the basics of food prep while preparing a few quick recipes to prepare and enjoy.
Let library staff know if you have any food allergies before signing up for the class.

The library will host Katelyn Lucas, a tribal historic preservation assistant for Delaware Nation, 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Nov. 29 for a discussion titled “History of the Lenape People: The Past and Present of Indigenous Peoples” in the Carol and Perry Zirkel meeting room.
This discussion celebrates the history of the Lenape people whose homelands encompass eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and parts of New York.
This program will focus on the Colonial period and the affect of settler Colonial violence, land grabs, broken treaties and other key historical events, some of which specifically affected this local area.

The library will host its biweekly Facebook video series “Let’s Talk Books” for adults at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 30 to spotlight a new book at the library.

A Tinkerlab for kids entering grades three through five will work individually or in small groups on a variety of STEAM-based projects 6:30 p.m. Dec. 2 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Room.

A Teen virtual chess class for kids in grades five through 12 will be offered 6-7 p.m. Dec. 3.
Join library staff for a friendly competition for teens looking to interact and sharpen their chess skills. They will be using the website lichess.org/ to play.

Parkland Community Library is requiring masks regardless of vaccination status for everyone age 2 and older. Patrons who have tested positive for COVID-19, are waiting for COVID-19 test results, have COVID-19 symptoms, or have had close contact with a person who has tested positive for or who has symptoms of COVID-19, are not to attend in-person programs and should chose online programs, when available.
Registration is needed to attend all these programs except the “Let’s Talk Books” program.
