Dorothy J. Charles, 87, of Upper Macungie Township, died on Nov. 10, 2021.

She and her husband, Carl, celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.

Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Robert S. and Miriam J. (Gackenbach) Mackes. A 1952 graduate of Allentown High School, she was an executive secretary at Charles L. Bell Company, Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union, Warren W. York Investment Brokers, and Merchants Bank of Allentown. She enjoyed hosting parties and reading.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by nieces Linda Koder and Karen Wonderly; and beloved pet, Pudding.

Contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Antiochian Orthodox Church, North Shore Animal League, Lehigh County Humane Society, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
