During the Nov. 15 Macungie Borough Council meeting, council was advised of the bids made for the HVAC system at Macungie Institute. There were five bids with Spotts Brothers having the lowest for $197,000. The bids were higher than expected due to excessive inflation.
The institute’s HVAC system is obsolete which makes any repairs very difficult. The cost to change the system with the lowest bid will not happen as the borough does not have the funds. Council approved the motion to reject all bids. This will be re-evaluated in six months.
