Kospia Farms holds veterans program

CONTRIBUTED PHOTOS Kospia Farms, 2288 State St., Alburtis, holds its sixth annual celebration of veterans and first responders Nov. 6. The event included food/refreshments by the Topton Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, music by Nic Franclik and Highest Bidder, wine tasting by Weathered Vineyards, raffles and a chili contest.
Scouts from Cub Pack 25 and Boy Scouts from Troop 25, Emmaus and Troop 31, Old Zionsville prepare flags residents provided for retirement.
The honor guard is provided by Macungie VFW. The ceremony included a reading of names in memory, retired or in service. The celebration is overseen by Kospia resident Cutty.
The ceremony includes a proper retirement of worn-out American Flags by burning them. The BSA Handbook says, “A national flag that is worn beyond repair may be burned in a fire. The ceremony should be conducted with dignity and respect and the flag burned completely to ashes.”
