Honoring veterans

American Legion Post 215, Catasauqua, held its annual Veterans Day ceremony Nov. 13.

Michael Rennig, post commander of American Legion Post 215, opened the program with a welcome to the 330 Second St. program.

The special guest for this holiday gathering was retired LTG Richard Kramlich, U.S. Marine Corps, who gave an impressive report on the preparedness of our servicemen and women and the role veterans play in our history and our nation today.

Kramlich emphasized the importance of character and responsibility in each person who dons the military uniform.

Catasauqua High School student Hannah Kurczeski performed “God Bless America” for the veterans and guests present at the program.

A key component of the annual Veterans Day event is remembering all those who died during the past year. Lawrence Gutleber, Post 215 chaplain, read the names of those members who joined eternal peace.

Also at the event, American Legion Post 215 presented a scholarship award to 2021 CHS graduate Janessa Ortiz.
