Seats, appointments filled

In a hybrid in-person and electronic meeting program, Bethlehem City Council met in the rotunda adjacent to city hall Nov. 10 instead of their customary Tuesday meeting date due to election day co-opting their regular day.

Council approved mayoral appointments: Iris Linares to the Bethlehem Housing Authority, Salvatore Verrastro to the Codes Board of Appeals and Karyn A Havas to the Board of Health.

Council approved several resolutions, including one for electrical construction to Brendan Stanton, Inc. and one for general construction to Eastern Environmental Contractors, Inc. both for upgrades on the West Influent Pump Room.

Kendal O’Farrell, an environmental science major at Lehigh University, spoke about more ecologically efficient stormwater systems. “Every new development of the city needs to be looked at through the lens of ‘can we implement any new green stormwater infrastructure. There are so many opportunities.”

Press photos by Douglas Graves Kiera Wilhelm and Hillary Kwiatek, both newly elected to city council, attended the meeting. They will be sworn in Jan. 3, 2022.
