Good Shepherd appoints clinical operations veep

Astrid Gonzalez Parrilla, OTD, MBA, FACHE, has joined Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network as Senior Vice President, Clinical Operations.

Gonzalez Parrilla, an occupational therapist by training, Gonzalez Parrilla oversees Good Shepherd’s adult and pediatric inpatient rehabilitation hospitals in Allentown and Bethlehem, long-term acute care hospital in Bethlehem, home health, long-term care facilities for nearly 160 residents in Allentown and Bethlehem, and the admissions department. She serves on Good Shepherd’s Senior Leadership Team.

Gonzalez Parrilla, a native of Puerto Rico, arrived at Good Shepherd and the Lehigh Valley from Brooks Rehabilitation in Florida, where she was Vice President of Operations for the Brooks - Halifax Health partnership. Gonzalez Parrilla oversaw the strategic direction, fiscal management and day-to-day operations of the physician practice, a 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility, adult and pediatric outpatient services and acute-care therapy departments.

Before joining Brooks in 2016, Gonzalez Parrilla held positions of increasing responsibility in a 14-year career with Lee Memorial Health System, Fort Meyers, Fla. Gonzalez Parrilla began as a staff occupational therapist and progressed to director of quality and education. She led efforts to develop quality, safety and patient experience initiatives across the post-acute network.

Gonzalez Parrilla is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus, with a degree in occupational therapy. She received a master’s degree in business administration from Columbia Southern University and a doctorate in occupational therapy from Rocky Mountain University of Health Care Professions in 2014.

She is board certified as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities surveyor, and a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association, National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives and the National Society of Leadership and Success.
