LHS volleyball makes donation

The Liberty High School girls volleyball team announced that it has recently made a donation in the amount of $2,000 to Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley.

Liberty High School recently held a “Pink Out“ volleyball match against crosstown rival Bethlehem Catholic Golden Hawks. The event included a basket raffle with donations from various businesses throughout the Lehigh Valley. Sponsors included Pat’s Pizza & Bistro in Bethlehem, and Paranee Properties. With proceeds from the event, the Hurricanes were able to donate generously to help those fighting cancer.

Liberty girls volleyball head coach Connor Swigart said, “The young women on the Liberty volleyball team encompass the values of hard work and dedication on and off the court. This annual event is a team favorite, and a great opportunity for the girls to give back to our community.”

Amanda Buss, Executive Director of Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley, was in attendance during the event.

“We couldn’t provide such valuable assistance to people affected by cancer without the kindness and generosity from caring community members. The support from events like Liberty High School’s Pink Out makes an important difference for patients and their loved ones struggling to cope, striving for wellness, and needing resources and guidance,” said Buss.

The mission of the Cancer Support Community is to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by community - so that no one faces cancer alone.

Members of the Liberty girls volleyball team include: Row 1 - Ava Janny, Sydney Marino, Gianna Sciarra; Row 2 - Amanda Buss, Brylee Tereska, Bella Martens, Connor Swigart, Fern Torres; Row 3 - Ayana Bomani, Alyssa Rachwal, Courtney Shire, Lora Flynn, Hannah D'Angelo, Patrice Kasten, Bailey Corrigan and Sydney Houchens.
