Egypt/Cementon: VFW to take part in Veterans Day events
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7293 will participate in Veterans Day ceremonies Nov. 11.
Times and locations include:
• 9:30 a.m., Cementon Veterans Memorial, Main Street, Cementon
• 10 a.m., Doughboy Memorial, Park and South Church streets, Egypt
• 10:30 a.m., Egypt Park Veterans Memorial, Hillcrest Lane and Curt Simmons Drive
• 11:30 a.m., Whitehall Veterans Memorial, Whitehall Township Municipal Building, 3219 MacArthur Road
• 12:30 p.m., VFW Post 7293, 5209 Springmill Road, Egypt
All veterans with proof of service are entitled to a free draft beer at the Post until 4 p.m.
Operation Turkey Drop will also be held 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 11 at VFW Post 7293.
The Warrior Brotherhood Motorcycle Club will be accepting donations of frozen turkeys. Donations of ShopRite and Weis gift cards and monetary contributions are also appreciated.
Checks made payable to VALOR Clinic Foundation can be mailed to the foundation at P.O. Box 315, Brodheadsville, 18322. Write “holiday meals” on the memo line of the check.

Egypt Community Church, 4129 S. Church St., is planning a fall festival 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 13.
Crafts and baked goods will be available for sale. The eat-in or takeout food menu will include halushki, homemade soups and hot ham sandwiches.
All proceeds benefit church missions.
The festival will feature the official opening of the Rev. John Philip Boehm Historical Museum, located in the 1830 Haus next to the church.

Laurel Fire Company, 5114 Third St., Cementon, is planning a breakfast buffet for 8 a.m.-noon Nov. 14.
There is a cost. Breakfast is free for children under 4 years old.
The menu includes scrambled eggs (with or without cheese and ham), sausage patties, bacon, French toast, home fries and sausage gravy with biscuits.

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 4331 Main St., Egypt, will celebrate Thanksgiving Eve 7 p.m. Nov. 24.
The service will be offered at the church and streamed on Facebook.
