FAMILY VOLUNTEER DAY, Saturday, Nov. 20, is held annually the Saturday before Thanksgiving. It is an opportunity for families to work together to serve their community, have quality time for busy families, strengthen communication, and have a positive impact on local communities. NEW BETHANY MINISTRIES, Bethlehem, seeks volunteers to prepare for Luminaria Night 2021 from 3-5:30 p.m. Nov 9, 10, 11, 16 and 17 at a Valley Center Parkway location. We need to assemble 10,000 luminaria kits. Each kit will consist of 10 paper bags, 10 candles, and one large Ziplock bag of sand. They will take individuals or groups. GRACEDALE NURSING HOME, Nazareth, is looking for friendly and courteous volunteers to wait on customers (residents, staff, visitors) and complete transactions in the gift shop. Stock shelves as needed, arranging items attractively. Available shifts are 1-3 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays. Background check and orientation provided. HOLIDAY HOPE CHESTS needs volunteers to donate wrapped shoeboxes filled with age-appropriate items for Lehigh Valley’s children in need. Suggested gift lists are provided on the website. This program, coordinated by the Volunteer Center, is a great project for large/small groups, clubs, classes, families, and individuals. SPECIAL OLYMPICS PA-GLV POCONO REGION, Berks, Carbon and Leigh counties are looking for regional and local team leaders to help with coordination of Special Olympics sporting activities ensuring the mission is met and policies/procedures are followed. Head coaches for swimming, basketball, golf, rhythmic gymnastics and bocce are needed to help athletes train and compete at their very best.
