Northampton County awards
The second annual Northampton County Festival was held Oct. 16 at Louise Moore Park, Easton. County Executive Lamont McClure and the Department of Community & Economic Development recognized a number of municipal employees and residents for the positive impact they have on the county.
“We have so many people in this county who make everyone’s life better through their dedication to their job or through their volunteer work. It is my great privilege to recognize these citizens for their service to Northampton County,” McClure said.
The county residents honored are:

Shadid Named to Albright SGA Cabinet
Reem Shadid, of Bethlehem, has been named Member-at-Large of the Student Government Association for 2021. A graduate of Northampton Area High School, Shadid is a member of the Albright class of 2023 majoring in Public policy & administration and Criminology.
Magyer receives volunteer service award
Linda Mayger, of Bethlehem, was the recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for her extraordinary service to international disaster relief charity ShelterBox in 2020.
The Shelterbox Ambassador donated more than 100 hours of time to support families with the emergency shelter and supplies needed to survive after losing their homes to disaster or conflict.
She found new, innovative ways to raise awareness and funds to shelter more families amid lockdown.
The President’s Volunteer Service Award is presented on behalf of President Joe Biden.The award is part of a national recognition program created in 2003 through the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation for individuals of all ages who contribute a significant amount of time to volunteer activities.
Since 2000, ShelterBox has provided and delivered boxes of disaster relief tents, blankets, a water filtration system, emergency lighting and other lifesaving supplies following more than 300 disasters in nearly 100 countries. The organization was nominated for a distinguished Nobel Peace Prize in 2018 and 2019. ShelterBox USA, based in Santa Barbara, Calif., is an official Project Partner of Rotary International.
