Patient Safety Award recipient
Coordinated Health of Lehigh Valley Health Network received the Healthgrades Patient Safety Award for the third year in a row. Healthgrades Coordinated Health–Allentown and Coordinated Health–Bethlehem received specialty awards for orthopedic procedures such as joint replacement and spinal fusion, as they have in years past. Bethlehem is the recipient of Healthgrades’ Joint Replacement Specialty Excellence Award as the hospital is among the top 10 percent in the nation for joint replacements. It received a five star rating for total knee replacement for the fifth year in a row and for total hip replacement for the second year in a row.
“Receiving these awards further shows that Coordinated Health puts care and safety first,” says Wayne Luchetti, MD, Chief of Staff and co-chair of the Department of Orthopedics, Coordinated Health. “Being recognized along with some of the best orthopedics specialists in the nation is an honor, and I’m proud of our team.”
Healthgrades evaluates roughly 45 million Medicare inpatient records from nearly 4,500 short-term acute care hospitals across the U.S. to provide quality and safety information about hospitals, doctors and health care organizations.
Hecktown Oaks Phase 2 opens
Lehigh Valley Health Network cut the ribbon on Nov. 1 to open Phase 2 of Lehigh Valley Hospital–Hecktown Oaks, 3780 Hecktown Road, Lower Nazareth Township. Speakers included James Miller, president, and Pat Toselli, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, both of LVH–Hecktown Oaks.
Phase 2 of LVH–Hecktown Oaks includes a four-story tower with 30 additional inpatient beds, rehabilitation space, and a grab-and-go café on the first floor. Three floors will remain unfinished for future growth. An Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is anticipated to open in summer 2022.
Phase 1 of LVH–Hecktown Oaks, completed in June 2021, was LVHN’s first newly constructed hospital project in nearly 50 years.
‘Most Wired’ recognition
Lehigh Valley Health Network has been recognized for 16 consecutive years as a Level 10 Most Wired health care organization for acute and ambulatory care by Digital Health. Only 15 organizations were named to this level in 2021. This is the highest recognition an organization can earn.
The Digital Health Most Wired survey is managed by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, The program assesses how effectively health care organizations use modern technology to support clinicians and patients. In the Digital Health survey and assessment, health care organizations earn a level from 1 to 10 in three categories: acute, ambulatory and long-term care.
CHIME defines Level 10 organizations as leaders in health care technology who actively push the industry forward, often leveraging technology in innovative ways and encouraging deep adoption across their organization. To earn a Level 10 Most Wired recognition, LVHN demonstrated an outstanding record of leveraging the power of digital technology within a visionary corporate strategy.
