PRESS PHOTOS BY PAUL WILLISTEIN Demolition of the old Lehigh Elementary School is nearly complete two months after the new school opened for classes Aug. 30 for the 2021-22 school year in Northampton Area School District. The entrance at the old Lehigh Elementary was built in 1955.
The demolition Sept. 3 included the front of Lehigh Elementary. Paul Giroux Inc., of Wind Gap, is handling demolition, utilizing as many as 14 pieces of heavy equipment. Materials were recycled or pulverized and then hauled away.

Blue Mountain is in the distance at the old school site in this Oct. 17 photo. The site of the old school along Blue Mountain Drive, Lehigh Township, is to become athletic fields for district students and the community.
