Annual Sheeprock Trek and service Nov. 25

The 93rd Annual Sheeprock Trek and Thanksgiving Sunrise Service will leave promptly 5:45 a.m. Nov. 25 (yes, Thanksgiving morning) from the Macungie Fire Company. Boy Scout Troop 71 will light the way up Macungie Mountain where there will be a brief Thanksgiving sunrise service.

Girl Scout Troop 6413 will serve hot chocolate and doughnuts at the end of the hike. The event is coordinated by the Macungie Historical Society. Hikers should be prepared with flashlights, gloves and hiking boots.

The Lower Lehigh AARP will meet noon Nov. 4 in the lower level of Macungie Memorial Hall in Macungie. For more information, contact Dot at 610-967-3284.

There will be a Welcome Fall Vendor and Craft Fair 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 13 at Macungie Memorial Hall.

The Sanctuary at Haafsville will hold a Furry Friends Bingo and Basket Raffle Nov. 14 at Macungie Memorial Park. Doors open 11 a.m. and bingo starts 1 p.m. For more information, call Lynette at 610-762-6139.

Macungie Borough offices are now open to the public. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. For information, call 610-966-2503.

Macungie Borough Council has resumed regular in person public meetings at the Macungie Institute. The next meetings will be 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15 and Dec. 6.

Lower Macungie Township compost site passes are available for Macungie borough residents for a fee. Residents must submit an application to the borough of Macungie at 21 Locust St.

Cash bingo is held weekly Saturday evenings at Macungie Memorial Park. Doors open 4:30 p.m. and games begin 6:30 p.m. Attendance is limited to 60 people; seating is spaced for distancing. Masks are required. Coffee and drinks will be available for purchase. For more information, call 610-966-4289.

The Macungie Park Board of Directors meeting will be held 7 p.m. Nov. 30.

Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., offers their free community meal as a drive-up option. The next meal will be 4-5:30 p.m. Nov. 12. They also offer a contactless monthly outdoor drive-up Grace Food Cupboard Give-Away. The next dates for the Food Cupboard are 2:30-4 p.m. Nov. 23 or 26 when residents of East Penn School District (please note the change in recipients) can receive one bag with nonperishable food. There will also be a supplemental distribution of bread, baked goods and snacks 2:30-4 p.m. Nov. 10. Both events take place in the parking lot; signs will be posted. The supplemental distribution is open to anyone.

The copy deadline for the Dec. 1 column will be Nov. 24.

Grace Lutheran Church offers a 10:30 a.m. worship service which is both in person and online at the same time. An adult Bible study will be held 9:15 a.m. Participants are asked to wear masks.
