LETTER TO THE EDITOR Mail-in ballots, drop boxes are safe, says L.C. League of Women Voters

To the Editor:

Nearly two weeks ago, U.S. Postmaster Louis DeJoy released information stating prices would be going up and mail service will be slowed.

Thank goodness we don’t live in Carlisle, where mail delivery is behind by more than a week.

Unfortunately, it is too late to place your ballot in the mail and know that it will reach the county voter services office in time.

You have two alternatives, voting in person or placing your ballot in one of your county drop boxes.

Is it safe? You bet it is; it is extremely safe!

There are two facts all Lehigh Valley voters should know.

First, there are eight states that use mail-in ballots and drop boxes exclusively.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has done research on the percentage of fraud with mail-in ballots and drop boxes.

In the last 20 years, when all the states using mail-in ballots, including Pennsylvania, were added together, the percentage of fraud amounts to: 0.000006 percent and that includes the 2020 election.

Please ignore the baseless false messaging still floating around about fraud; it is simply untrue.

The second fact they found was that neither one of the two major parties enjoys a benefit over the other from mail-in ballots.

MIT also found that the two parties were practically even, while both had a higher voter turnout using mail-in ballots and drop boxes.

So, use that ballot and drop box with complete confidence - and make sure you vote.

Local municipal elections are very important.
