Democrat Sunny Ghai and Republican Sean Gill will face off Nov. 2 for a six-year term on the Upper Macungie Board of Supervisors.
The Press asked the candidates the following question.
What do you think the residents in your township are most concerned about and how would you deal with it if elected?
Sunny Ghai
Citizens in Upper Macungie understand the impact warehouse proliferation has had on their safety and quality of life, and they are looking for the kind of smart growth leadership we’ve provided as citizen advocates.
While we’ve had great success in our activism; we now need to elect municipal officials with those same priorities.
I plan to update our zoning and ordinances to better address incompatible land development; restrict the granting of variances to developers who do not comply with our ordinances; and step-up code enforcement. In addition, I will preserve our farmlands and protect our open spaces for future generations.
Sean Gill
As a supervisor, the most concerning issue is quality of life for our families. I have personally worked with Sen. Pat Browne, R-16th, to secure funding for the Adams Road intersection. When built, it will remove thousands of trucks per day off Route 100. As a member of SPYA for over 16 years,
I know the importance of providing safe places for our children. That’s why I support expanding and improving the splash park and pickle ball courts along with building the community center at no cost to our residents. Finally, I am in support of not raising taxes, while continuing to support the police and volunteer fire companies.
