Sara Jane Kidwell, 83, died Oct. 19, 2021.
Born Nov. 7, 1937, in Tulare, Calif., she was a daughter of the late Silas and Gladys Tyler.
She graduated from Tulare High School, and Chapman College in Orange, Calif. in 1961 (now Chapman University).
She married Roger Kidwell in 1961 and began her teaching career in third grade in Santa Ana, Huntington Park and South Pasadena.
She and her husband celebrated their 60th anniversary on Aug. 12.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter Vicky Stodnick and grandson Nathan Stodnick of Wildwood, Mo.
In 1966, the couple moved to St. Louis, and, in 1971, they welcomed their daughter Victoria.
The family moved to Taiwan in 1980 for four years for her husband’s company.
There, she became active with a Girl Scout Troop with girls from around the world and very much enjoyed travel around the Orient.
Upon returning to St. Louis, she became active in women’s organizations that sponsored women’s education.
She was president of the very active College Club of St. Louis for two years.
In 1993, she and her husband moved to the Lehigh Valley, where she became active with PEO of Emmaus, a women’s organization dedicated to the education of women.
She enjoyed travel, reading, gardening and home decorating.
A visitation will take place 10-11:30 a.m. on Nov. 13, at Keller Funeral Home, 1018 Church St., Fogelsville.
