Register for assistance hours

Continuing to provide additional aide to area seniors and veterans, Rep. Milou Mackenzie, R-131st, will offer veteran assistance hours each month at her district office, 1245 Chestnut St. Suite D, Emmaus, as well as weekly Medicare enrollment assistance hours for seniors through Dec. 6.

Medicare Enrollment Assistance

A Medicare open enrollment counselor will be available at the Emmaus district office 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Dec. 6. This is a free service.

The counselor will be available to help seniors review their Medicare coverage. Seniors will need to bring their Medicare card and a list of any prescriptions they are currently taking, including dosage and cost if possible. (This information can also be obtained from their pharmacist.)

Veteran Assistance Hours

Assistance for veterans is offered the fourth Wednesday of the month. The next session will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 27.

Services for veterans and their dependents include assistance with compensation, pension and death benefits, education and health care, among other benefits. Veterans do not need a membership with the American Legion to receive these services.
