Harvey A. Hines Jr., 89, of Walnutport, died Oct. 23, 2021, in Scenic View Personal Care facility, Palmerton.

He was predeceased by his wife Ada E. (Handwerk) Hines in August 2020.

Born in Allentown, a son of the late Harvey A. and Alma (Altemos) Hines Sr.

A self-employed antique dealer, he retired in 2018.

He was a well-known professional fiddle player, as well as a guitarist and vocalist performing with the former Bluegrass Countrymen Band for many years.

He was a decorated veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army, having received two Purple Heart medals.

His survivors include a daughter Diane, wife of Robert A. Schmidt, of Slatington, with whom he last resided; sister Sandra Stephens of Bethlehem; brother, the Rev. William A. (Susan) Hines of Williamsport; grandchildren Eric (Jennifer) Deibert and Vicki (companion Alan Leone) Ayers and five great-grandchildren.
