There are two candidates seeking the position of magisterial district judge, 03-3-01: Democrat Melissa Gogel and Republican Robert A. Hawke. Voters will choose one in the Nov. 2 election.

The candidates were asked to respond to the following question in 100 words or less:

What makes you uniquely qualified for this position?

MELISSA GOGEL

Our district needs a magistrate judge who takes the time to listen to residents and look for fair solutions to court matters. I have been an Allentown police officer for over 18 years with assignments in the Special Victims Unit and Crime Scene Unit. I volunteer for local community organizations, I foster for a local dog rescue, and I am certified by the Pennsylvania Minor Judiciary as a magistrate judge. My training and experiences have prepared me for the duties of magistrate, and I will serve our people with integrity and respect.
