Catasauqua: J4 committee will meet Oct. 28

The Catasauqua/North Catasauqua J4 committee is planning to meet 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at the North Catasauqua Municipal Building, 1066 Fourth St.

Volunteer to help plan the 2022 J4 Celebration, set for July 2 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St.

All those attending the meeting are asked to wear a mask even if vaccinated.

Breaking news: Republican Jessica Kroope has announced she is running as a write-in candidate for Catasauqua mayor in the Nov. 2 election. According to her statement, she has 12 years of experience on borough council, where she spent four years as vice president.

“I proactively made a difference in the betterment of Catasauqua,” Kroope said. “Born and raised in Catasauqua, I care about my neighbors and the future of Catasauqua. The biggest reason why I want to be your mayor is that we should all feel safe in our homes and community. We need new leadership. I have a strong background in local government and know what it takes to lead Catasauqua into a brighter future.”

Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 604 Fourth St., will hold a free community lunch 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Oct. 30.

All are welcome.

Boy Scout Troop 94 of Catasauqua is planning a breakfast 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Catasauqua Legion Post 215, 330 Second St.

The menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, hash browns, coffee, tea, milk and orange juice.

All are welcome.

The Catasauqua Garden Club will next meet 1 p.m. Nov. 3 at Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St., North Catasauqua.

Linc Coffin, a Pennsylvania Master Gardener, will discuss how to take care of holiday plants.

Garden club members will present entries for judging in artistic and horticultural categories.

Orders are due by Nov. 2 for the ongoing Catasauqua High School band and chorus hoagie and sandwich monthly fundraiser. Delivery is expected Nov. 9.
