South Whitehall police, Wegmans store to participate in National Take Back Day

Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin has announced the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration is again coordinating a collaborative effort with state and local law enforcement agencies to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from homes during the 20th National Take Back Day 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 23.

South Whitehall Township Police, 4444 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, will participate in the collection, as will Wegmans, 3900 Tilghman St., Allentown.

Martin said since the first National Take Back Day, 13,251.5 pounds of medications have been collected in the county.

In addition, 26,562.4 pounds of medications were deposited in permanent medication collection boxes in police departments and at LVHN hospitals.
