SES PTO holds Color-A-Thon and Fall Fling
There was a burst of color at Salisbury Elementary School Oct. 16 as the PTO sponsored a Color-A-Thon and Fall Fling fundraiser.
A Color-A-Thon is a fundraising opportunity where the students raise money to run, walk or jump while being doused with various colors. The after-party included a balloon artist, DJ, face painting, temporary tattoos, the Eastern and Western Salisbury fire departments, the Salisbury Falcon and lots of fun.
The PTO held a “Color Blast Mr. Brem Contest” as the students worked very hard to gather donations for the color run. “The money raised from events like this will go toward T-shirts, field trips and other fun activities throughout the year,” PTO representative Nicoll Spinner said. “Both Mrs. Schey’s and Ms. Bedics classes raised over $1,000, which is absolutely amazing! It was very close, but Mrs. Shey’s class raised the most money and won the honor of color blasting (Principal) Mr. Brem a few days prior to race day. Congratulations!
“Since Ms. Bedics class came in a very close second, (Assistant Principal) Mr. Muschlitz has agreed to be colored blasted on the same day.
“Thank you to both Mr. Brem and Mr. Muschlitz for being such good sports. Thank you again to all the students for their hard work to make the Color-A-Thon fundraiser a huge success,” Spinner said.
Volunteers set up tables, chairs, water stations, managed traffic flow on the inflatable obstacle course, registered participants and handed out T-shirts, helped the Salisbury Falcon and threw colors at runners.
