National Drug Take Back Day Oct. 23
Area police agencies will again participate in National Drug Take Back Day Oct. 23
Coordinated by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, the event is a collaborative effort with state and local law enforcement agencies to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from homes
This year’s collection event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In a media release from the district attorney’s office, since the first National Take Back Day in 2010, 13, 251.5 pounds of medications have been collected in Lehigh County.
In addition, 26,562.4 pounds of medications have been deposited in the permanent medication collection boxes available in most police departments and at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest; Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg; Bethlehem; and Lehigh Valley Hospital-17th and Chew Streets, Allentown.
The following police departments and organizations will participate in the Oct. 23 collection:
•North Catasauqua Police Department, 1066 Fourth St., North Catasauqua
•Emmaus Police Department, 400 Jubilee St., Emmaus
•Catasauqua Police Department, 90 Bridge St., Catasauqua
•Macungie Police Department, 21 Locust. St., Macungie
•Bethlehem Police Department, Westgate Mall, 2285 Schoenersville Road, Bethlehem
•Whitehall Township Police, 3731 Lehigh St., Whitehall
•Wegmans, 3900 Tilghman St., Allentown
•South Whitehall Township Police, 4444 Walbert Avenue, South Whitehall
•Salisbury Township Police, 300 South Pike Avenue, Salisbury Township
