WCSD board approves resignations, appointments, advisers
At the Whitehall-Coplay School District Board of Education Oct. 11 meeting, approved resignations included Michelle Brownback, Student Council adviser; Scott Biery, districtwide bus driver; Bethany Lewis, librarian at Whitehall High School; Joseph Caraballo Sencion, districtwide van driver; Carolyn Radon, co-adviser for the Class of 2023; Nicole Morber, paraprofessional at Steckel Elementary School; Rita Mimari, paraprofessional at Gockley Elementary School; and Ramia Arnouk, paraprofessional at WHS.
New appointments include Bridget Santiago, Life Skills teacher at Whitehall-Coplay Middle School, at $60,476 per year; Sarah Klein, German teacher at WCMS, at $66,508; Elizabeth Boyer, fourth-grade teacher at Zephyr Elementary School, at $67,888; Nada Tabarini, secretary at WHS, at $18.85 per hour; Caroline Bobyak, secretary at Zephyr Elementary, at $40,502 per year; Halima Elbetany, cafeteria worker at WCMS, at $14.02 per hour; Karen Arcieri, districtwide bus aide, at $14.52 per hour; Tyler O’Brien, districtwide bus aide, at $14.52 per hour; Eunice Moyer, bus driver, salary in accordance with bus driver agreement; and Joseph Caraballo Sencion, Richard Fillman and Rosemary Hernandez, van drivers, at $17 per hour each.
New paraprofessionals include Lori Schaffer, kindergarten and first grade at Gockley, at $18.85 per hour; Heather Adams, nurse paraprofessional at WCMS, at $18.85 per hour; Man Ching Yeung, Zephyr 1:1, at $20.02 per hour; Joumana Elias, learning support at Zephyr, at $20.02 per hour; and Laura Tawil, long-term learning support paraprofessional at Gockley, at $18.85 per hour.

Approved club/extracurricular advisers for the 2021-22 school year include Alexander Varghese, Student Council at WCMS, with the added compensation of $700.
Approved 2021-22 teacher induction program participants include Clare Persing, mentor to Bridget Santiago, with the added compensation of $325.
The board approved the part-time substitute nurse pay rate of $36 per hour, payable to Sangeeta Dorner, school nurse, for the 2021-22 school year.
The next school board meeting will be held 7 p.m. Nov. 8.
Committee meetings on transportation/operations, finance/personnel and education/student activities will be held 4 p.m. Oct. 25 and Nov 22.
