A local business and a business owners association are hosting two candidate forums, spotlighting those seeking the Catasauqua mayoral seat as well as positions on the borough council.
The first event is planned for 5-7 p.m. Oct. 22 at Taylor House Brewing Company, 76 Lehigh St., which is also sponsoring the forum.
The second event, sponsored by Catasauqua Main Streets, will be held 6:30-8 p.m. Oct. 26 at the borough municipal complex, 90 Bridge St.
This forum can also be viewed virtually by going to global.gotomeeting.com/join/499534869. To dial in from your phone, call 872-240-3412 and use access code 499-534-869.
Topics expected to be addressed include taxes, roads, progress of the Iron Works development and other important topics affecting the borough and its residents.
According to Kim Brubaker, of Catasauqua Main Streets, “We are volunteering to host ‘Meet the Candidates Night’ for the benefit of the community and for all of the candidates, not just one party or one candidate.
“We feel it’s important for the candidates to share with the voters why they are running for mayor or borough council and their vision for Catasauqua. These are the elected officials who are serving the community and making decisions for our town each year and during council meetings, and it’s an opportunity for people to ask questions and meet the candidates face to face. There will also be time for Q&A so be sure to have questions for them,” Brubaker added.
For more details, see the Catasauqua Main Streets Facebook page.
On the ballot in the Nov. 2 general election are:

Borough council: Democratic candidates Trudy Warner, incumbent Vincent Smith and David Bernini and Republican candidates incumbent Paul Cmil, Howard Cunningham and Jill Smerdon. Voters will choose three of the six.
All candidates have been invited to both forums.
