Northampton: Jack Frost Parade to be held Oct. 23

The 72nd annual Jack Frost Parade, sponsored by Northampton Exchange Club, is scheduled for 6 p.m. Oct. 23.

The rain date is set for Oct. 30.

The parade route will travel north on Lerchenmiller Drive from Clear Springs Drive to Smith Lane, turn left onto Smith Lane, left onto Laubach Avenue, right onto Gene Zarayko Drive (14th Street), right onto Washington Avenue, left onto 19th Street, left onto Main Street to Lerchenmiller Drive and end at Northampton Fire Department, 4 Lerchenmiller Drive.

A trunk-or-treat event is planned for 2-4 p.m. Oct. 30 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 105 E. 19th St.

Admission is free, and costumes are welcome.

The borough will hold its trick-or-treat night 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.

Residents interested in handing out treats are asked to turn on their porch lights.

Mayor Thomas Reenock has declared October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the borough.

He said the observation of this month is a reminder to schedule mammograms.

Reminder: Northampton Area Food Bank, 1601 Canal St., will be holding food distributions 5-7 p.m. Oct. 21. Bring a photo ID with a current address or your ID and a bill with the correct address.

The food bank is open 9:30 a.m.-noon every Wednesday for registration, questions and donation drop-offs.

A walkathon fundraiser is planned 9 a.m. Oct. 30.

Swing Time Dolls will perform 1:30-3:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Roxy Theatre, 2004 Main St.

All tickets will be sold at the box office.

Proceeds benefit the military charities of Knights of Columbus Assembly 3298, fourth degree.

Alliance Fire Company, 717 Washington Ave., will hold a turkey raffle 2-5 p.m. Nov. 7.

There will be 25 turkeys, as well as other prizes, raffled off.

There is a cost.

Monday night bingo has resumed at Northampton Banquet and Event Center, 1601 Laubach Ave.

Doors open 5:30 p.m., and the games will begin 7 p.m.
