John F. Shucavage Jr., 83, died peacefully Sept. 28, 2021, surrounded by the comfort of his family. He was the loving and devoted husband of Barbara (Kurinec) Shucavage. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this past November. Born in Tamaqua, he proudly served in the special forces of the United States Army during the Cuban missile crisis.
He graduated from Tamaqua High School and attended Stevens Trade School, which began his 42 year career at Honeywell and then PPL as a planner analyst.
He was a parishioner of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Allentown, where he was a lead usher, a member of M.O.S.T. and the Knights of Columbus.
Following retirement, he especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, loved to laugh and enjoyed a good joke.
He is survived by his wife; sons and their wives, John and Lisa, Shawn and Corinne, Joel and Megan; grandchildren, Erik, Rachel, Shane, Grace, Ella and Logan.
