Gettysburg College

Hoffman earns deans’ commendation

Bella Hoffman, of Whitehall, has been placed on the deans’ commendation list for outstanding academic achievement in the spring 2021 semester. Students with a quality-point average in the range of 3.3 to 3.599 for a semester’s work are placed on this list.

Founded in 1832, Gettysburg College is a highly selective four-year residential college of liberal arts and sciences with a strong academic tradition. Alumni include Rhodes scholars, a Nobel laureate and other distinguished scholars. The college enrolls 2,600 undergraduate students and is located on a 200-acre campus adjacent to the Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania.

Students graduate

Lock Haven University congratulates the spring 2021 graduates on receiving their academic degrees. The 143rd spring commencement ceremonies were held in-person for graduate students May 7 and undergraduate students May 8 at Charlotte Smith Field.

Bath: Anna Filchner graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biology

Danielsville: Samantha Harling graduated with a Master of Education in alternative education

Northampton: Gabrielle Gallo graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in health sciences

Whitehall: Brandi Shoy graduated with a Master of Science in clinical mental health counseling, Kevin Vuong graduated with a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice

Students who graduated with honors indicate the recipient earned a GPA of 3.5 and higher. Degrees are officially granted after the university certifies completion of all academic requirements.

Students earn degrees

Kutztown University has conferred degrees for more than 1,3000 students for the 2021 spring semester.

Kutztown University announces degree conferment twice a year, once in the winter and once in the summer. Commencement exercises are held in May and December; however, students finish the requirements for graduation throughout the entire year. The following students have been awarded degrees following the 2021 spring semester.

The cumulative GPA necessary for honors distinction is: with honor (cum laude) 3.4; with high honor (magna cum laude) 3.6 and with highest honor (summa cum laude) 3.8.
