American Rescue Plan funds help county’s small businesses

Northampton County’s Department of Community and Economic Development announced that, in the first five rounds of small business grants from American Rescue Plan funds, $7,860,375.53 has been distributed across 35 municipalities.

Local municipalities and the amount received include Allen Township, $85,000; Bath Borough, $58,600; Chapman Borough, $15,000; East Allen Township, $118,595; Lehigh Township, $122,345; Moore Township, $111,000; and Northampton Borough, $120,529.

To qualify, a business must be located in Northampton County and have fewer than 100 employees. The application process will remain open as long as funds are available. Business owners can apply through Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce at lehighvalleychamber.org.

Other municipalities in the county and the amount received are North Catasauqua, $35,700; Bangor Borough, $155,000; city of Bethlehem, $1,077,121.28; Bethlehem Township, $406,083; Bushkill Township $155,352; city of Easton, $583,300; Forks Township, $220,000; Freemansburg, $1,068.75; Hanover Township, $209,100; Hellertown, $169,184.75; Lower Mount Bethel, $30,000; Lower Nazareth, $207,000; Lower Saucon, $162,000; Nazareth Borough, $155,000; Palmer Township, $332,124; Pen Argyl Borough, $134,340; Plainfield Township, $161,920; Portland Borough, $15,000; Roseto Borough, $52,000; and Stockertown, $15,000.
