A local Kuztown veteran is one of 12 deserving veterans who are in the running to win a free roof from Beacon for its annual Beacon of Hope, a nationwide contest awarding deserving veterans with new roofs.
Harry Haas was nominated by his neighbor for the Beacon of Hope contest.
Haas served in the 3rd Armored Division in Germany as a noncommissioned officer during the Cold War for three years. His rank was Sgt. E-5.
Recently, he lost his beloved wife, whom he devotedly cared for every day until her death from cancer.
According to the information provided by Beacon, Haas is a wonderful human being who is very giving, loving and fun in nature.
He is a well-deserving candidate for this contest.
For the third year in a row, as part of Beacon’s commitment to its communities, Beacon will deliver and facilitate roofing repair or replacement for six veteran contest winners at no cost to the recipient.
Additionally, six second prize winners will receive $2,500 each to help complete necessary repairs.
Vote online for Haas now through Oct. 22 at Beacon of Hope 2021.
The number of votes will determine the 2021 Beacon of Hope winners who will be announced on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
