Maj. James R. Robbins, USMC, retired, 67, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Allentown, died Sept. 25, 2021, at home.
Born in Traverse City, Mich., he was the son of the late James M. and Pauline M. (Miller) Robbins.
A graduate of Parkland High School, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from Florida Atlantic University.
He retired as a major from the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
As a second career, he was a teacher in the Allentown School District, spending most of his career at William Allen High School.
He was a member of Jersey Gypsy H3 and LVH3, where he was known as Grabbag.
His survivors include a daughter, Stacey Robbins; son Asa Robbins and his wife, Alyssa DuBois; sisters Barbara Krietz and Jane Nahas; brother Thomas Robbins; mother of children Sally Jo Bortz; granddaughter, Giada Stefano; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Sharon.
His memorial service will be 11 a.m. Oct. 15 in Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 17th and Hamilton streets, Allentown.
Visitation will be held 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. Interment will follow with military honors at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown.
