At the Hanover Township, Lehigh County, Council meeting Oct. 6, Han-Le-Co Volunteer Fire Company agreed to work with the township to update the joint personnel handbook.
The policies are coordinated with the township and the volunteers. The volunteers review the procedures annually. This year’s update includes more changes to support the volunteers and the township.
As part of the continuing changes with the handbook, the township agreed to allow its members provisions for parades and/or ceremonies.
In other business, Air Products will add to its air fleet and will build a hangar and service building. Council agreed to the plans and contingencies unanimously.
The township agreed to prohibit single meters from multiple commercial customers. The rates for certain water and sewer rates will be adjusted.
The new sewer rates are $59.50 for the first 7,000 gallons. The previous charge was $54.25. The system will have a flat rate of $8.50 per 1,000 gallons. The charges are paid quarterly.
The new water rates are $52.50 for the first 7,000 gallons. The previous meter was $49. The water rates for metered customers are $7.50 per 1,000 gallons. The previous charge was $7.
The township agreed to require changes to the content of the agenda. The changes are consistent with new changes to the Sunshine Law.
The township engineer reported the new paving project at Postal Road is expected to be complete by the end of October.
Also at the meeting, the township added Tory Ruth to the public works department.
