Food truck festivals bring in the crowds

The weekly food truck festival, hosted by Unangst Tree Farm in East Allen Township, attracted a sizable turnout of attendees Aug. 25, despite the reportedly sweltering heat.

The event attracted diners every Wednesday throughout late spring and summer to sup in a field in East Allen Township.

The festival featured about a dozen food vendors and live music. The weekly events ended Sept. 29.

The festival setup had been in a comfortable, easily accessible location with plenty of picnic tables for those who want to eat.

Bill and Mary Lou Seixas, of Bethlehem, operate the Couchpota-doh truck, offering tasty Ecuadorian cuisine. They reportedly plan to open a restaurant at 306 Broadhead Ave., Bethlehem. More information is available at facebook.com/Couchpotadoh.

The music on this particular night was provided by Jason Zeigler, as a one-man band. Zeigler is a guitarist and vocalist of the Copper Fields band.

Band members hail from Bethlehem and Emmaus. Copper Fields has performed its folksy sound at Musikfest and many other venues in the Lehigh Valley.

The Carlson family, of Nazareth, was seated at a picnic table. They said they enjoyed the different food options available. Their food delights that evening included tacos, Cuban sandwiches and ice cream from the Bananarama sundae stand.

Not to be left out, Mike Gotzon, of Bethlehem, and his cute little puppy Olive were found at the Greek Street stand checking out the menu.

Some other participating food trucks over the weeks included Blue Mountain Vineyard, Curd Zone, Cactus Blue, Cone Appetit, Flying V, Popcorn Pit, DonutNV, Atomic Hogs BBQ, Slide On By, Take A Taco, Mad Jay’s BBQ, Bagel Bus, Bodega Bistro and Nellie’s Homemade Pies.
