Congratulations to our Allentown Central Catholic High School Class of 2022 cross-country runners who were recognized during Senior Day at their meet in Allentown’s Lehigh Parkway. Great job seniors; Julia Roth, Jonathan Romero, Jake Demchak, Gavin Grim, Jimmy Freeman and Nathan Harris.

Our senior Vikette tennis players were celebrated after their varsity win at Pleasant Valley High School Sept. 25. Congratulations to seniors: Meagan Niechwiadowicz, Renna Russo, Kara Wang and Sabrina Yurconic. The team finished its season Sept. 27 at Dieruff High School’s tennis courts against East Stroudsburg North. The final match was Sept. 28 against Bethlehem Catholic at the Illick’s Mill tennis courts.

Girls soccer beat Emmaus 2-1, in overtime, Sept. 28.

Save the date! Central’s Homecoming Dance will be 7-10 p.m. Oct. 15 in Rockne Hall. Students can purchase tickets during lunch periods now through Oct. 15. No tickets will be sold at the door and students must wear IDs to get in.

Our Central City Project Food Pantry distributed over 40 bags of groceries to residents of the Jordan Heights neighborhood Sept. 27. Bags included hot peppers and eggplants grown in the Amy Sullivan Memorial Garden.

Also Sept. 27, students traveled to Harrisburg with Father Esposito and Sister Sophia to participate in the first-ever Pennsylvania March for Life. In addition to the march, the group toured the state capitol building, met the Most Rev. Ronald W. Gainer, the Bishop of the Diocese of Harrisburg and also ACCHS alum Fran Vigilietta, Class of 1966, who works at the Pennsylvania Catholic Conference office.

Campus Ministry held a Philadelphia Shrine Hop Retreat Oct. 5. The bus departed from Central 7:15 a.m. and students returned 3:30 p.m. Students visited the St. John Neumann Shrine, The Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter and Paul and the shrine of St. Katherine Drexel. In addition to this, students had the opportunity to have lunch at Pat’s King of Steaks or Geno’s Steaks.
