UPPER MACUNGIE: Exercises, running offered in Township

Upper Macungie Township has partnered with St. Luke’s to offer two chair strength and mobility classes, one on Mondays from 9-10 a.m. until Nov. 15 at Lone Lane Park Pavilion, 30 Lone Lane Road.

The other class is from 9-10 a.m. Wednesdays until Nov. 17 at the Parkland School District Administration Building, 1210 Springhouse Road, South Whitehall.

This is a low-impact chair-based strength and flexibility exercise program for adults of all activity levels working on balance, coordination, agility and functional strength.

Christine Gabel, a volunteer with Healthy Kids Running Series, will offer a three-week program to motivate kids to lead a healthy and active lifestyle through a positive introduction to the world of running.

This program, designed for children ages 2-14, will be offered at 3 p.m. Oct. 17, 24 and 31 at Grange Park behind Pavilion No. 1, 360 Grange Road.

Program fee includes a T-shirt.

Plant Pilates owner and ASFA Certified Fitness instructor Marlana Betesh will offer a combination of Pilates and nutrition class 6 p.m. Tuesdays until Oct. 26 at Lone Lane Park, 30 Lone Lane.

This Pilates-HIT blend is aimed to burn fat with a dynamic mixture of classic and modern Pilates exercises.

The township has partnered with the Parkland School District to provide a senior water aerobics class Wednesdays, 6-7 p.m. until Nov. 10 at the high school pool.

This class is instructed by an experienced and certified instructor.

The class is free to seniors, but registration is required.

Barktoberfest will take place 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 9 at Grange Park, 360 Grange Park Road. Rain date is Oct. 10.

There will be a DJ playing family-friendly music, activities, and giveaways by vendors.

The Pet Parade and Costume contest will take place 12:10 p.m. with prize winners announced at 1:10 p.m.

Demonstrations will be held at 12:30 p.m.

Nanny Loft LLC., to offer a Safe Sitter one-day “The Essential” course 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Oct. 11 in the municipal building, 8330 Schantz Road, Breinigsville.

This course is designed to prepare students in grades six to 12 to be safe home alone or babysitting.

The per student fee includes a 60-minute introduction to CPR along with the safety, child care, first aid and rescue and life and business skills.

Students will receive a cinch bag with manual, flashlight, Band-Aid kit, emergency notepad, snacks and water.

Students need to provide their own lunch.
